Should you convert an existing traditional IRA to a Roth IRA? Converting to a Roth IRA can offer significant tax savings, but you must consider your income, tax rate and when you plan to retire. Let's see if converting to a Roth IRA makes sense for you.

IRA Selector

Is the traditional IRA or a Roth IRA best for you? The tax benefits of each depend on how old you are, when you plan to retire, your tax rate and at what rate you expect your investment to grow. Let's compare how much retirement income each type of IRA will generate for you.

Planning Tools

Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) Planner

Once you are 70.5 years old, you are required to begin withdrawing annually from traditional IRAs, or pay a significant "accumulation penalty." Our planner can help you to determine your current or future required minimum distribution (RMD). It can also help to examine what your RMD would be depending on various rates of return and life expectancies for you and your beneficiary.

Beneficiary Planner

As a beneficiary of an IRA, you need to be aware of the taxes and penalties that govern distributions, including required minimum distributions (RMDs). Many factors determine the disbursement rules for an inherited IRA, including the age at which the plan participant dies, the age of the beneficiary and the relationship of the two.

Early Payout Planner

If you withdraw funds from a Traditional IRA account before you are 59.5 years old, you are assessed a 10% penalty of the withdrawal, with some exceptions. For a Roth IRA, 10% of earnings may be assessed. This tool helps explain and compare your options for early withdrawal from IRA plans.
