Nancy M. Smith, Former Regulator and Industry Veteran, Joins AARP Financial

Tewksbury, MA — AARP Financial, a new subsidiary of AARP Services, Inc., announced the appointment of Nancy M. Smith, as Vice President, Investment Services. A 20-year veteran of the securities industry and regulatory community, Ms. Smith oversees compliance and investment advisory services for AARP Financial.

"Nancy Smith's track record as an SEC official and state regulator who has championed plain language and simplicity in investment products makes her a tremendous asset to AARP Financial. Ms. Smith has served at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as Director of the Office of Investor Education and Assistance, leading the SEC's plain English initiative and outreach to individual investors. Previously, she served as Director of Securities for the State of New Mexico. Prior to her work with the SEC, she was Senior Finance Counsel for the subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives with responsibility for securities legislation and oversight activities. More recently she served as a Vice President of FOLIOfn, an online brokerage firm. She received her B.A. and J.D. from Georgetown University.
